Dr. Xu said that unlike conventional air conditioning and heating systems, ground source heat pumps no longer need to “create” heat or cooling indoors. It's just "shifting" energy between the earth and the interior, using very little power to keep the room at a temperature level you need. In the winter, a small amount of electricity, several times the amount of energy in the soil or rock into the room, then, 1 kilowatt of electricity to provide you with 4 kilowatts -5 kilowatts of heat is very easy.
