Xinhua News Agency, Harbin, June 21 (Reporter Sun Yingwei and Xu Yijun) Director of Export Department of the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Industry of the Ministry of Commerce Lu Luxun said at the first "Sino-Russian Automobile Market Forum" in Harbin City that China's autos have been operating since the 10th Five-Year Plan. The export of parts and components has grown steadily, with an average annual growth rate of over 40%. Among them, the entire vehicle exports tend to be dominated by their own brands.
In 2006, China exported a total of 324,000 vehicles, with an export volume of 3.12 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 87.8% and 97.3% respectively. Since the accession to the WTO, China's entire vehicle exports have exhibited a "blowout" growth, with an average annual growth rate of 95.6% in the past five years. The export growth rate of parts and components is stable with an average annual increase of 36.3%.
Lu Lun said that the main characteristics of China's auto exports are six: First, the number of export business entities has increased rapidly. Last year, about 15,000 export enterprises of automobiles and auto parts and components were exported; second, export-oriented products are mainly spare parts. It accounts for 80% of the export volume. Third, commercial vehicles are the main export vehicles, and the export of cars has increased significantly. Fourth, the export market has developed towards diversification. Last year, China exported 207 vehicles and parts to 207 countries and regions. Fifth, export methods are mainly based on general trade methods. Sixth, there are many independent brands in the export of vehicles, and an autonomous auto product export system with relatively strong competitiveness and comparative advantages has been initially formed. In 2006, the total exports of state-owned and private enterprises in China accounted for 73.2% of the country's total vehicle exports.
