Wan Gang: Electric Vehicles Will Have Seven Supporting Policies

“The next five years will be a crucial period for the transition from scientific research to industrialization of electric vehicles, and it is also the key for us to seize the opportunity to make electric vehicles, a strategic emerging industry, bigger and stronger.” At the International Automobile Forum, Wan Gang, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Minister of Science and Technology, said.

Wan Gang revealed that the Ministry of Science and Technology is actively participating in and coordinating with the industrial planning seminar organized by the competent industry department, and will further increase the investment in electric vehicle science and technology R&D, and continue to support and lead the development of China's electric vehicles.

At present, the draft of the 12th Five-Year Plan for electric vehicles has been drafted. "Planning" includes clear seven aspects of the electric vehicle industrialization research and development direction and increase the financial subsidies for the development, optimization and application of demonstration products.

The overall goal of the plan is to fully grasp the core technologies of electric vehicles, cultivate the capacity for independent development, give full play to the advantages of market and resources, and form a competitive industrial system for electric vehicles and key components, and put in electric vehicle charging stations and hydrogenation. Stations and other infrastructure to meet the needs of the development of electric vehicles for industrialization.

It is worth mentioning that in the “12th Five-Year Plan” special draft for electric vehicles, perfecting the test platform and technical standard system for electric vehicles has become a major highlight. Wan Gang believes that improving the standard system for electric vehicles, establishing a policy environment conducive to the development of electric vehicles, and realizing the transformation of China into a strong automobile country.

At the same time, the National Development and Reform Commission is working with relevant departments to revise the “Industry Structure Adjustment and Guidance Catalogue (2010 edition)”, and new key components for new energy vehicles have been added to the encouraged products. In addition, it is expected that the "Energy-saving and New Energy Vehicle Development Plan (2011-2020)" will be basically formed and released within two months.

Many ministries and commissions have paid attention to the importance of new energy vehicles and have reached a consensus that in the next 5 to 10 years, hybrid vehicles will become the main direction for the transformation and upgrading of traditional energy-saving technologies. Pure electric vehicles, including plug-in electric vehicles, will become the mainstream of the recent development strategy. Fuel cell vehicles will become the commanding height in the future.
