Monitoring function of soil moisture tester in arid agriculture

The shortage of water resources is a worldwide problem that is deeply influenced by this factor in the development of agriculture. However, there is a certain spatial difference in the distribution of water resources. Without the presence of them, the pain caused by this lack of water can never be realized. Under such a general environment, dry farming is a major form of agricultural production and plays a very important role in the security of world food. Soil moisture tester also plays a pivotal role in the detection of soil moisture content. At present, the monitoring, simulation and assessment of soil moisture in developed countries have reached a relatively high level. A fairly complete monitoring and release system has been established, with standardized operating procedures and a complete indicator system.
Dryland farming occupies a large proportion in China's entire agriculture, and farmland soil moisture dynamics is one of the focuses of dryland farming research. For a long time, a large amount of research, promotion and application materials have been accumulated at the point, local and regional scales. Undoubtedly, these data are of great value for further deepening similar research and better serving regional agricultural development. Analysis of past research results shows that in China's drylands, attention has always been paid to soil moisture surveys, especially for soil moisture during key periods such as sowing and reproductive growth. At the same time, the monitoring of soil moisture in arid regions is mainly based on farmland and grassland, and most of them are based on regional studies. With the soil moisture tester as the most basic instrument, the research on soil moisture remote sensing monitoring theory has been deepened, and great progress has also been made in the monitoring of soil moisture or early-morning macro conditions using NOAA/AVHRR data.
The soil moisture monitoring data obtained by the soil moisture tester has not been well utilized. In addition, there is a lack of standardized soil moisture data release platforms. Although some researchers also use the Internet to publish some soil moisture data, the distribution platform and data formats are quite different. The released data often lags behind, resulting in low data utilization efficiency. The main contribution of geostatistics to soil research lies in its analysis of the spatial variability of soil and its use in spatial estimation.
