China Electron Casts 800,000 Tons of Coal-based Polyolefin Project

On December 3rd, CLP Investment and Total's joint venture annual production capacity of 800,000 tons of coal-based polyolefin projects was laid at the foundation of the Zhungeer Qi Dalu coal chemical base in Ordos City.

The 800,000-ton coal-based polyolefin project is currently the largest similar project in the world. The production process of methanol to olefins and olefin cracking (MTO+OCP), jointly developed by Total and UOP in the United States, is supplemented by advanced energy conservation and emission reduction measures. Comprehensive energy efficiency, energy consumption, water consumption, and pollutant discharge levels have reached the leading domestic level.

On March 9, 2011, Total, China Power Investment and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government signed the "Structure Cooperation Framework Agreement for Coal to Olefins" signed in Beijing. The scale of the project is approximately 1 million tons/year, and the planned total investment is approximately 2-3 billion euros. It is expected that the project will be put into production after 2015.
